Annotation. In the master's thesis “the UMP and the Socialist Party of France as political opponents in 2007 – 2012” conducted a review of key substantive elements and entities competing electoral France campaigns by the comparative analysis of the two parties the UMP and the Socialist Party in the elections of 2007 - 2012. The basic methods of the research programs is a diachronic analysis of France's largest political parties (the Union for a Popular Movement and the Socialist Party), historical-comparative analysis, as well as content analysis of election programs of parties and politicians in the parliamentary and presidential elections of 2007 - 2012. The study identified the historical origins of the formation and existence of the two parties, which illustrate the phenomenon under study competition in France, determined the course of the current competitive games. The party programs are carried out an analysis of the Union for a Popular Movement and the Socialist Party of France 2007 - 2012 and investigated the nature and characteristics of the influence of the parties on the course of development of the country. Key terms: the French election campaign, inter-party system, "UMP", the Socialist Party, bi-center system.
