Economics and Statistics
(Bachelor’s programme)

2017
For the Republic of Abkhazia, Russia is a strategic partner, the main investor, helping to rebuild the national economy destroyed by the war. The mutual benefit of relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and Russia is based on the realization of the national interests of both states. Abkhazia, in addition to its high potential in the development of the agricultural sector, industry, processing agricultural products, electric power industry and resort tourism, having restored economic ties with the regions of the South of Russia based on economic specialization and division of labor, is able to become a basic transit corridor for the export of goods from Russia and For the countries of the Black Sea basin and the South Caucasus. The development of regional economic cooperation will lead to the gradual formation of a stable single economic space with a single direction of development, with the same goals and objectives that will be aimed at satisfying the interests of integrating regions.

Having demonstrated the successful formation of the elements of a market economy, the economy of the Republic of Abkhazia in recent years shows a fairly stable economic growth, actively implementing economic and social projects. The economic growth of Abkhazia determines the increase in the well-being and quality of life of people.

But so far it remains ambiguous: what does the production function of the economy look like, what factors, and to what extent, influence the dynamics of the GDP growth rate of Abkhazia, its acceleration and deceleration? What factors have the greatest response to the economic growth of the country? Which countries are in a similar economic state? What is the current situation of the republic in comparison with similar countries in the world, nearby regions? In this paper, an attempt is made to answer all these open questions in the framework of macroeconomic theory.
