The aim of the work is to identify the arguments "for" and "against" the possibility of finding and implementing some rules, which can guide scientific research. The objectives are following: the study of the strategies of justification of the possibility or impossibility of algorithmization of logic of discovery in the history of philosophy. During the work three stages of analysis of problems of algorithmization were marked. The first stage (XIII-beginning of the XXth centuries) was characterized by the work on the ideas of logic of discovery in the framework of the rationalist, empirical and pragmatic programs. During this period productive ideas of algorithmization of the process of creating hypotheses thanks to mathematics, unified method of science, artificial language of thought, the search of causality, induction, abduction were proposed. The first stage extends the understanding of logic as an art of discovery and as a synonym for inquiry. The second phase was dedicated to the criticism of the task of the logic of discovery in the philosophy of science of XX century. Because of discussions regarding the status of the so-called "context of discovery" (recognition of its subjective, contaminated with the influences of the human psyche, society specific character) the issue of algorithmization of the process of creating hypotheses was removed. However, on the background of the debate about scientific rationality, status of hypotheses within the structure of the theory, understanding of the logic and role of psychology in theory of knowledge, arguments in favor of rejection of logicism, incorporation of psychology in epistemology were offered. The third stage is the stage of contemporary interdisciplinary research. In cognitive Sciences, data mining, the study of methods of automatic generation of hypotheses ideas of Mill, Bacon, Pierce (methods of deduction and abduction), question-and-answer form of organization of studies and other rules are developing.
