In recent years, the video game industry has become the most profitable entertainment media. The budget and box-office of some games exceed those of movie industry. The number of people playing video games is progressively growing and, moreover, video games are no longer considered a “lesser” media. New technologies become popular thanks to video games and this is the case of one of the most important technologies nowadays: virtual reality. The advancement of programming languages, the rapid growth of technologies, the introduction of new ways of information transmission and development of feedback devices (such as head-mounted displays, gloves, etc.) opened the path for various developments in the field of virtual reality. This and other modern trends will be analysed in the thesis.
