The warmth of Russia - NATO relations declines nowadays, as Russian officials and media speak against NATO interference in Syria, while NATO officials claim Russia as one of the most significant dangers for the Alliance. However, the relations between two sides and the media image of each was not always the same, even if considering only the time period of Vladimir Putin being in charge (as the Prime Minister or the President). This study aims at trying to discover the changing tendencies in Russian TV Channels language when speaking about NATO and to reveal the link between the language of media and the level of political tensions between Russia and the Alliance. Two methods will be used to measure the value of mutual influence of politic situation and media covering of it: the naturalistic (empirical) observation and case study to record these tendencies and their hidden underlying basis. The study will contribute to the body of knowledge about the language of media and freedom of the press in Russia.
