Beauty and personal care industry has never been a leader either by value or number of mergers and acquisitions. Despite this fact, the industry has been showing a significant growth in the value and number of mergers and acquisitions. Procter & Gamble and Unilever were created through a merger of other companies. In the case of Unilever, the merger was cross-border. Since that time both companies have become the leading FMCG and beauty and personal companies in the world. They gained this position, among other things, due to a great number of international mergers and acquisitions. Nowadays, Procter & Gamble and Unilever are the only leaders in the observed industry that have other large segments in addition to the beauty and personal care. This paper examines peculiarities of international mergers and acquisitions of the leading companies in the industry on the example of these two companies.
