The thesis features the aspects of functioning of metaphorical expressions about Russia in the modern USA media. We claim that metaphorical image of Russia in the American press aims to create unfriendly, aggressive, dangerous picture. The theoretical grounds lie in the area of approaches, ideas, opinions and achievement of the mordent cognitive linguistics.
