Nowadays with the world being on the verge of ecological catastrophe, the question of necessity to protect the environment and to respect the commitments for the countries to do that is very relevant. The majority of the world leaders expresses a great concern about the ecological state and touch upon this problem in their speeches. This question is also widely discussed during large-scale international conferences. Not surprisingly mass media which responsively react to all the modern tendencies, highlight the ecological security problem and produce their own estimation for actions of the government for atmosphere and climate protection, or absence of those. For this question as well as many others mass media provide the connection between politicians and mass audience. They don’t only serve to pass information but to shape opinions and estimations for governmental actions being successful or not. Thus we can speak about a special political media discourse which has a potential to lead opinions and attitudes into the necessary direction. In order to do that it employs a bunch of various linguistic and paralinguistic means due to which manipulative function of the language is accomplished in a better way. Thus while studying mass media discourse of the international obligations of states to protect atmosphere and climate in media sources of different countries we can find major similarities and differences in the ways of construction of this problem as well as define the main points Russian and foreign media focus on. And as a result to distinguish the main ideas which political agents are trying to compel the audience and their intensions.
