The policy of school choice is an actual and very debatable topic worldwide. School education is the foundation for the future career of young people. In recent years, the school choice policy has been changed several times and, due to constant changes, there is a need for research work aimed at studying the features of school choice in St. Petersburg. In this paper, we analyzed such aspects as the stability of school choice, the territorial approach of school choice and the relationship between the popularity of the school and its characteristics. The results of regression models shown that the popularity of the school is related to its status, as well as the percentage of students who go to study from another district. The school choice, conducted in the first grade, is stable for 88.51% of the pupils of the St. Petersburg schools. The peak of mobility is in the 1st, 4th and 9th grades. The result of the analysis of the сomparisons network of schools has shown the connection between the geographical aspect and the school choice. The uniqueness of the results of this research is not only that it shown the importance of school choice in the first grade and shed light on the features of the school choice in the context of St. Petersburg but current research also contributed to building trust in digital data
