Contemporary Migration Trends in the Republic of Korea and Multicultural Challenges

The Repulic of Korea is a country of rapid transformations. Owing to the globalization and inductrialization processes RoK became the recipint country of international migrants. Accordint to the latest adata, there are nearly 2 million foreign residents. Since 2007 Roh Moo-hyun president's administration commited to establishment of multicultural society, that drew attention of Korean academics, mass media and society. The principle of 'pureness' of blood, language and history rooted in minds of Koreans hs been affected by newcommers. There was a need to change the country's embracement of immigrants. This research works aims to reveal the success and failure of multicultural policy, which was declared 10 years ago, and find out wheather it is relevan to continue the discource on multiculturalism.
