The Image of Russia in the Novel “Stalin’s Children” by Owen Matthews

The theme of the final qualifying work is "The Image of Russia in the Novel “Stalin’s Children” by Owen Mathews. This paper deals with the representation of the national image of Russia in the novel by O. Mathews. Keywords: the image of Russia, the national myth, modern British literature The object of the study is the peculiarities of the perception of Russia in Matthews' book “Stalin’s Children”. The subject of the study is the image of Russia, represented in the novel. The work consists of the introduction, three heads, the conclusion and the list of the literature. In the first head the main theoretical information about imagology, which is necessary for the competent analysis of the novel, is investigated. In the second head historical, diplomatic, cultural and literary Russo-British relations are described, the brief overview of British literature about Russia and the peculiarities of Russia's stereotyping in the 21st century are revealed. And the third chapter is devoted to Owen Matthews’ specific perception of Russia. The imagological approach is used for the analysis of the novel “Stalin’s Children” . The conclusion contains the main results.
