Business Process Automation of Service Center via Information System

The purpose of the paper is to establish the requirements for information system which is used to automate business processes in a service center. To achieve this purpose following tasks were carried out: • Analysis of subject area; • Formalization and modelling of key business processes; • Establishing requirements for information system; • Choosing the most appropriate information system based on established requirements. This work consists of the introduction, three chapters and the conclusion. First chapter is dedicated to subject area analysis and includes the description of key business-processes generally found in every service center, such as vehicle reception and its return to the client. Models of these processes, created with the use of varying modeling methodologies, are included in the appendix to this paper. Second chapter provides general information about software requirements and methods of their creation. In this project, the requirements were created with the use of method developed by Karl Wiegers, who is a well-known expert in this area. Requirements for information system, which will automate processes, described in the previous chapter, are established here. The last chapter is about choosing the system that meets all earlier established requirements. The choice is made between two information systems specialized for auto repair area, chosen during preliminary screening as the most likely ones to meet the requirements. According to the established objectives, subject area was analyzed, key business-processes were formalized and their models were created via IDEF0, IDEF3 and DFD modeling methods. After reviewing literature on the subject, requirements for information system were established, and the most suitable system was chosen based on these requirements.
