Creating a Project Management Office in Mine Construction Companies

Nowadays, in order to save competitive positions companies have to implement operational activities and make new products and services, which meet actual customers acquirements. However, many companies haven`t got any necessary project management skills. That`s why they have to organize project management office to realize projects, transpose project management ideology and methodology. In addition to this, project managers need to consider the mature level of project management in the company in order to choose the type of project management office with appropriate functions and role in organizational structure. So the problem called “specific features of organizing the project management office in the company” becomes relevant to research. Moreover, external environment and business processes specifics of the industry influence on project management processes, that`s why it`s interesting to research specific features of project activities in concrete segment. This work focuses on the research of organizing the project management office in the companies, which work in mine construction branch, construction of unique model. In this research, several methods have been used to achieve results: analysis and synthesis of main principles established in project management standards, focus interview method and internal documentary audit, PEST-analysis, process designing on the basis of IDEF0. Research results are practically oriented and can be interesting for project management specialists who are involved in the process of organizing or developing the project management office in mechanical engineering companies.
