The Policy of Hafez Al-Assad Towards Islamist Movements in Syria

This research paper studies the history of the formation and development of extremist movements in Syria in the twentieth century with the aim to carry out a historical reconstruction of Hafez Assad's policy regarding extremist movements in Syria in 1970-1985. The main objective of this work is to understand the specifics of the actions of the Syrian authorities towards "Muslim Brotherhood" and "Warring Vanguard", as well as to analyze the methods used to combat extremism from the side of the participants of the organizations themselves.
