In this thesis, the topic of perception and interpretation of the spaces of Soviet modernism by noday's residents is being explored. The epoch of modernism contained a powerful ideological component. This ideology found expression in space. The spaces of Soviet modernism sought to create a new way of life for the new Soviet society. Most noticeable are these ideologies on the example of public spaces. At the moment, the third paradigm of design has been replaced after modernism. Right now it is necessary to comprehend the legacy that modernism left us. Most of the cities of Russia are faced with the task of actualizing the public spaces of the legacy of modernism. Unfortunately, often such actualization leads to the destruction and loss of the inheritance of modernism. That is why it is now extremely important to work out new approaches to working with such spaces. To develop such approaches, a detailed study of the perception of these spaces by current users is needed. This is the subject of the work. The spaces of modernism in this paper are explored on the example of the city of Zelenograd. As a result, conclusions are given about the viability and non-viability of ideas embedded in modernism in the context of modern society.
