Factors Influencing Cross-Border Mergers in the Manufacturing Sector, Using the Example of Pirelli and China National Chemical Corporation

This master thesis answers the question, what are the key factors driving companies to merge and combine their assets and efforts in achieving their goals in the manufacturing sector. Firstly was carried out the review of literature, in order to better understand what means the term "merge" and the theoretical part of the possible factors affecting mergers. The analysis made on example of tire company Pirelli and China National Chemical Corporation merger. Analysis of the chosen factors is based on the current state of the companies and problems that can be solved as a result of the merger. Analyzed the history of Pirelli and China National Chemical Corporation, their current status, current activities and analysis of the factors influencing the merger on both sides. The result is the conclusion on the obtained results, comparison of key factors influencing the merger of the two companies and recommendations, which were formed on the basis of the problems that may arise in the process of merging
