The Policy of Lebanon State Authorities Towards Palestinian Refugees

This paper aims to focus on the policy of Lebanon regarding Palestinian refugees’ problem that is one of the most significant issues of Lebanese society. It investigates the historical background of this issue and its modern condition along with examination of main factors and triggers for developing the state policy on refugees. The main feature of this research is a comprehensive analysis of original legislative materials of Lebanon. Also previous research from various periods and scholars are compared and analyzed including both advocating and opposing ones. The paper is divided into three chapters in terms of the periodization of the research. The first chapter describes an emergence of palestinian refugee problem and several country, regional and international organizations that were aimed at relief and solution of this problem. The second chapter is focused on the key factors of palestinian involvement in Civil War in Lebanon (1975-1990) and its main results for Lebanon and Palestinians. The third chapter examines after-war period and governmental restrictions in 1990-s along with modern trends of palestinian refugee problem in Lebanon.
