The construction of the epic and traditions around it is a political action designed to legitimize power, ideals dominating the society or to consolidate this society around the symbol that the hero will be. On the example of the Finno-Permian epic, it is possible to find, with the help of the structural-typological approach, the constructed myths. In turn, the Hobsbawm approach allows us to identify the processes of creating traditions and explain them as the product of national movements, and the classification of the national movements of M.Hroch will help to determine at which stage the epic was created.
