Designing an Information System for Automation of Equipment Maintenance Business Process

The purpose of the current work is development of the design of the information system that can be used for equipment maintenance business processes automation, which can be used by the development teams and, in particular, by architects in order to reduce overall costs of the solution development by cutting planning phase. Gathered requirement for the proposed information system were stated by the company, that provides maintenance as well as commissioning and decommissioning of the gas distribution equipment services in the Moscow Oblast. In the process of subject area analysis information systems of Computerized Maintenance Management System, Enterprise Asset Management, Help Desk and Field Service Management classes were reviewed. Examination of their functionality showed the absence of the information systems that would be able to cover these requirements. Also an analysis of the best practices of the IT-service management was held. The list of the reviewed best practices consisted of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies (COBIT) and IT4IT. Some of the described in these frameworks methods and instruments were used in the further system design development. The results of the current work are detailed description of the data structure, high-level algorithms, required visual forms and programmatic interfaces of the four primary and three supporting information system functional modules, as well as its role model. Moreover, recommendations for the deployment of the proposed system, including subsidiary technical solutions and technologies allowing to implement described functionality, were given. Offered in the current work information system design fully covers gathered requirements of the equipment maintenance service organizations.
