In this paper, the features of the sectoral policy, including the clarification of the term, are considered. The structure of St. Petersburg's economy is analyzed by industry and activities, retrospective and current status, possible trends are given, and special attention is paid to industry as the basis of the entire economic complex of the city. The paper considers economic problems of a sectoral nature, as well as a recommendation to address these problems. Key words: St. Petersburg industry, industry, St. Petersburg economy, industrial structure, industrial policy, economic policy.
