Student: Mozharov Denis

Supervisor: Sergey G. Efremov

Faculty: Graduate School of Business

Educational Programme: Business Informatics (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2017

During my work in one of the companies, which produces licensed software, I noticed some issues. I worked in the support group of order management system that produces license artifacts and provide distributors with them. The diploma paper has as the purpose to analyze and collect the requirements of new standard order management system that will replace current complicated solutions. So, to gain the goal I needed to immerse into the business-processes of the company-producer of licenses, so-called, software vendor and to examine weak points in existing system. What I found out is that the system is considered to be ‘legacy’-system, which means that it is outdated and difficult to replace. The paper is divided into four main parts: introduction, main part, estimated results and conclusion. The introduction is supposed to describe the appearance of licensed software and to lead to existing problems. Moreover, the introduction forms the goal of the work and creates tasks that are necessary to complete to gain the goal. The main part has analytics of the business-processes and revealing of weak points in current solutions. What is more, the main part also describes the requirements that new system should meet. The requirements were developed with application of Karl Vigers specification that specifies three kinds of requirements – business, user`s and system`s. After that, abstract architecture of the system is described. Estimated results part repeats main points of the work and brings the method how to estimate the effectiveness of application of the new system after its development. In conclusion, I would like to stress that the current work gave me a real experience of analyzing problems in existing solutions and gave me an opportunity to offer the steps to resolve some of them. I got a great experience that I can apply in my future work.
