The main questions that the study seeks to explore are how the dispute settlement mechanism works within the World Trade Organization, the peculiarities of the procedure and the experience of the WTO member states in solving trade disputes. It is undeniable that trade relations often involve conflicting interests. With regard to this, agreements, including those painstakingly negotiated within the WTO system, often need interpreting. By analyzing statutes and intergovernmental agreements, the present paper considers the necessary stages of the WTO dispute settlement system, which facilitates trade between the member states and seeks to rule out the side effects. It aims to give the reader an insight into the mechanism for ensuring trade flow. Apart from this, the main difficulties when implementing decisions of the WTO Dispute Settlement Body are also revealed and analyzed. Prospects for improving the dispute settlement mechanism within the WTO are given.
