This thesis overviewed and analyzed the influence of private interests over the public powers decision making, in particular the influence of multinational companies on the European Union Trade Policy through business interest representatives. The goal was to understand the influence of multinational companies over the EU Trade Policy and their medium to succeed, and why it has been so controversial lately. The thesis findings highlight a will of the multinational companies to change the EU trade policy paradigm, through business interest representatives’ activities. But the future of the new generation of trade agreements and the CETA in particular is all but not sure, and the activities of the groups of interests will be even more scrutinized in the future.
