Agile Methodology Improvement for New Product Development
2017
Turbulent and volatile markets are becoming the norm as life cycles shorten and global economics and competition forces create additional uncertainty. Nowadays, the new product development (NPD) process needs to be improved to enhance a company’s competitive advantage from unanticipated changes. It is necessary to apply a management strategy that takes into account the qualitative characteristics of the new product to reduce the time of the product release cycle and the cost of development and manufacturing. In this paper, we will consider the possibility of applying the principles, methods and practices of the concept of flexibility in the management of NPD projects, which should lead to the creation of innovative products. The author proposes to organize work on the NPD project by overlapping phases based on agile principles, which conducted in conjunction with parallel product design, as well as using design-thinking tools to create products with a new "sense" for the user, creating new values for the consumer.
