A Tool for Finding Defects in Python Programs Using Abstract Syntax Tree

The research considers static code analysis tool for Python source code. The analyzer uses abstract syntax tree for finding defects. The paper describes the tool and its design including original checkers that have not been implemented before. Moreover, the study including testing of the system on open source projects and results evaluation. The evaluation will be useful for developers of ISP RAS. The study will be a part of existing “TIRPAN” static code analyzer focusing on problems related to type inference. The project could be extended by any checkers written in Python according to developed program interface. Thus, the system could be used to test new checkers for Python.
