This research includes the study of the relationship between the content of the stereotype and the length of perceived social distance towards different social groups in Russia. The study was based on the Fisk's model of the content of stereotype and Bogardus's social distance scale. The relevance of the work consists of several grounds. There is a lot of data obtained by foreign scholars regarding the content of the stereotype and the factors determining the length of social distance, however, there is no data on the relationship between the content of the stereotype and the length of perceived social distance. Moreover, such studies have not yet been conducted in Russia (or have not been published). And lastly, similar studies have not been conducted with respect to various social groups in Russia. The purpose of my work is to determine exactly how the content of the stereotype is related to the social distance towards to different social groups in Russia. The sample of this study included 114 citizens of the Russian Federation (18 years and over). All respondents assessed various social groups in Russia using the developed questionnaire which includes the Fisk's model of the content of the stereotype and the Bogardus scale. After the statistical processing of the data, it was concluded that the hypothesis of the relationship between the content of the stereotype and the length of perceived social distance towards to social groups in Russia was confirmed.
