Influence of Social Transformations on Migrant Employment in the Three Reservoir Area

Since the construction of the Three Gorges Project in 1992, it has made great achievements in infrastructure, environmental protection, science and technology education, resettlement in the reservoir area. However, the economic development of the Three Gorges reservoir area is relatively slow. Among all the problems because of the project, migration unemployment is one of the most significant problems. The reasons of employment difficulties are relatively complex. The external reasons are government policy factors and local industrial structure; the internal reasons derive from the quality of their own migrants and the adaptation of migrants. Basing on the documents and annual statistics issued by the governments in China, through the analyzing of impacts of the policies, this thesis focuses on the situations of migrant employment and tries to find the factors affecting employment of migrants. This thesis finds the ways to solve the migrant unemployment and develop in sustainable way.
