Social and Economic Factors Attributed to Smoking Among Students

Today smoking is one of the widespread harmful habits among young people that is serious social problem. But smoking of Russian youth is poorly studied. Students is a large group of young people that is why studying the characteristics of smoking of students has great interest. To understand smoking among students we analyzed the problem of smoking in general for all social groups of the population. In addition, we read the main works studying the problem of smoking youth and students and ways of fighting with it in different countries. Based on a sample of students from 2005 to 2015 and an econometric analysis of smoking factors we show that in 2013 and 2014, when an anti-smoking law was introduced, there was a significant reduction of student smoking. It was also revealed that Islam has the most influence by the refusal of students from smoking, especially this applies to girls. Sport and having children also reduces the likelihood of smoking but the change in income level from low to medium and the presence of a couple increase the likelihood of smoking.
