The object of the study of the qualification work is the coal transportation process of the largest domestic coal company. The subject of the research is improvement of coal transportation process. In this work specifics of coal transportation are considered, both in general and in the particular case of company “SUEK”.

The analysis of the economic activity revealed that the focus company is the leader on the Russian market of coal production and sales and occupies one of leading positions on the world coal market. The analysis of the logistic activity revealed such problems as occasional development of irrational routes and inefficient utilization of marine vessels capacity during export deliveries, which ultimately leads to an increase in coal transportation costs and, accordingly, the total logistics costs of company “SUEK”. In order to solve the identified problems the port of shipment was proposed to be changed for deliveries to key countries in the Atlantic region. In addition, the consolidation of shipments and the choice of vessels with the required capacity were suggested for export to key countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Economic efficiency of the proposed measures implementation was assessed on the basis of the strategic profit model. As a result, the proposed measures lead to the return on equity increase of the focus company by 0,89 p.p.

Volume of the work: pages – 98, figures – 32, tables – 26, Appendix – 1, literature sources – 43.
