The period of the 1950s-1960s was a turning pointfor the process of formation of ideas about fatherhood and a father. During the "Khrushchev Thaw" period of Soviet history together with the criticism of previous norms and practices of men performing their parenting duties the basis for juristical and social changes in the family sphere was prepared. These were finally embodied in the Marriage and Family Code of 1969. This research is going to demonstrate how a "family" man in the Soviet Russia was represented in the normative and public discourse, which behaviour was a norm and which a deviation for a father and how a model of a "ideal father" was constructed in the decribed context.
