Competitive Strategy of Mobile Taxi Aggregators in Russia
8
2017
The market of taxi services in Russia passes through a technological transformation and is experiencing a new wave of growth amid a change in the market infrastructure with the advent of online taxi aggregators such as Yandex.Taxi, Gett and Uber. Because of this, the problem of the competition of new players with traditional taxi services, urban and other modes of transport, as well as rivalry of taxi aggregators among themselves for a share in the market is especially topical.

The purpose of the dissertation research is to determine the features of competitive strategies used by online taxi ordering services and to form new approaches to the application of competitive strategies in the market. The strategies of taxi aggregators are explored in the context of competition with traditional taxi services, public and personal transport. The problem of the bilateral nature of the market is also being investigated (the customers of the online taxi aggregator are passengers on the one hand, and drivers on the other).

Based on the analysis of competitive strategies of online aggregators with the largest market shares, the advantages and disadvantages of competitive strategies used by technology companies were identified, as well as possible options for transforming competitive strategies and developing new channels for attracting drivers to achieve company's strategic goals.
