This research focuses on the oil-dependent economy of Kazakhstan and country’s growing poverty as its unfortunate side-effect. This paper critically examines and contrasts governments measures and lack of thereof to address these issues. This paper call on the government of Kazakhstan to treat poverty as a societal phenomenon, while simultaneously the elephant in the room – country’s stagnating economic growth.
