High death rate of the Russian population from cardiovascular diseases, particularly from acute myocardial infarction, shows a lack of effectiveness of the measures taken at present time and requires new approaches to the solution of the one of the most important tasks of the health care. Today it is very important to estimate the contribution of changes in the methods of diagnosis and treatment of acute myocardial infarction to dynamics of morbidity rate and death rate of the population to seek opportunities to impact on the most sensitive links. The study systematizes the incidence and death rates from acute myocardial infarction in Russia since 1956, reflects the real clinical practice of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. We also studied the relationship between changes in management approaches to diagnosis and treatment and the dynamics of morbidity rate and death rate of the population.
