Cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions in the Law of the European Union

This paper attempts to analyze cross-border mergers and acquisitions in the EU. In particular, the author identifies types of cross-border mergers and acquisitions in the EU, analyzes the implementation of the Directive 2005/56/EC on cross-border mergers of limited liability companies of 26 October 2005 into some Member States’ national legislation, defines the features of the public company takeovers and examines the issues of control over cross-border mergers and acquisitions within the EU.
