Blaming Russia for ignoring supranational institutions in the past, the EU itself is currently pursuing a policy of exclusively bilateral relations with the members of the EAEU, bypassing the Eurasian Economic Commission. In this regard, the research question is: why does the European Union refuse to cooperate with the EAEU on a multilateral basis, complementing bilateral relations with its member countries, while successfully integrating multilateral and bilateral approaches with other EU integration groups. As a response to the question posed (the hypotheses of our study), we state that such behavior of the EU is related to its special perception of the post-Soviet space and Eurasian integration, as well as the existence of a formed system of ideas, values of the "Eurocentric" order. The uniqueness of the case under consideration is due to the fact that, other things being equal, the EU decides not to cooperate with the EAE, despite the fact that the usual logic is to seek a dialogue with major integration projects (Mercosur, ASEAN).
