This research paper raises the question of the impact of banking competition on the stability of the banking sector at different levels of liquidity risk. Data for 106 countries for the period 2001 - 2014 were used for the study. As a result of the study, a stable negative impact of price competition on the stability of the banking sector was revealed, as well as the fact that a reduction in the liquidity risk leads to a decrease in the impact of competition in the banking sector on the stability of individual banks. This observation is typical for high income countries and poor countries. The findings highlight the need to take into account the liquidity risk when analyzing the impact of competition on the stability of the banking sector.
