Aspects of Space Tourism Coverage in Documentaries

An increasing amount of publications in the sphere of space tourism in a period from 1990s till nowadays signify orientation of new space programs on the economic expediency and public involvement. However, there are few studies on the role of media in popularization of space exploration. The present study focuses on the main and the most typical features of documentary projects about space tourism and colonization of outer space. The analysis of this form of popular science journalism could help to display the importance of media in space industry development. Comparing features of American and British documentaries with Russian ones, we realize what could be changed and improved in Russian way of space popularization.
