Development of Procedure for Innovative IT-Projects Ranking

Nowadays innovations are considered as an essential driver growth for both commercial and noncommercial organizations. On the other hand, today considering innovations usually equals to considering information technologies as according to researches and trends the realization of corporate innovation strategies is possible due and supported by information technologies. As separate industry, information technologies stand among ones with the fastest growth pace. At least once per 1-1,5 years global IT market faces innovation in form of new technology, product or service based on it etc. However, a lot of business are still recovering from global economic crisis and has to be more conscious and precise while choosing IT-innovations to adapt, as they are associated with high risks and indefinite influence on company’s business. Thus, companies face the necessity to give justified priority to alternatives among IT-innovations. The first stage of research project has been dedicated to theoretical aspects of IT-innovations: based on vast literature review the definition of IT-innovation has been composed; life cycle of IT-innovations has been studied, key features of innovation IT-projects have been pointed out and allowed to justify choice of multi criteria evaluation methods for further use. The second stage has been dedicated to the search and modification of IT-innovation adoption model; based on modified Tornyatzky-Fleischer IT-adoption model a procedure for IT-projects ranking has been developed. The third part has been dedicated to the approbation of developed procedure in one of Russian IT companies; as a result, procedure has been proved adequate as well as practical recommendations for further procedure usage has been formulated for analyzed company.
