The work is devoted to the essential topic of the prospects for economic cooperation between Russia and Japan with an emphasis on the energy sector because the energy is an integral part of Russia's economic cooperation with countries. In the course of the work, the energy sectors of both countries are explored separately in order to identify possible areas of interaction. Also, another subject of the study are implemented projects between countries, on the experience of implementation of which new projects in the field can be implemented. To achieve the goals set, the annual reports of various energy companies and international organizations, textbooks, articles and electronic resources were used.
