Securities Market Development in Russia and Other BRICS Countries:a Comparative Study

The main aim of this work is to compare Russia to other members of BRICKS, from the perspective of their current situation on their security markets. This work was stimulated by the fact that if countries which make up the BRICS group are considered to be similar, why then, they are all facing different economic situations, and which country has an upper hand. The security markets all have been effect in different ways in the members of the BRICS, most papers focus their attention on stock or financial markets of one particular country and try to evaluate the results, and try comparing the results against America’s situation. This paper focuses its attention primarily on Russia from the historical perspective right up to today. This enables to give a much deeper understanding of the current Russia’s economic situation when comparing with other members. Bloomberg was used in order to obtain the necessary data, whereas different media sources allowed for accurate representation of the country’s economic performance.
