Influence of Secondary Emission Currents on the Process of Radiation Charging of Materials

In this work the role of secondary emission in the process of spacecraft charging is investigated. The aim of the work is to reveal quantitative regularities of the effect of secondary emission currents on the magnitude of the potential of a spacecraft when it is charging in the surrounding plasma. Computer simulation and calculation of the charging of the surface of the spacecraft were carried out according to the Coulomb-2 program. Calculation of the magnitude of the charge occurred when the properties of secondary emission of surface materials changed and the parameters of the surrounding plasma changed. The results obtained can help in modernizing the surface of the spacecraft, reducing the potential achieved and reducing the probability of discharges.
