Nowadays Russia is one of the most competitive countries in the shipbuilding sector. At the moment the Navy of the Russian Federation has 5 different bases, so the development of both military and civil shipbuilding is one of the most priority areas of development. The civil shipbuilding is no less than military in demand on the world and domestic markets. Due to the high level of capital intensity and the duration of the shipbuilding production cycle, enterprises in this sector are in high demand for borrowing. However, traditional methods, such as leasing and bank lending, are most often used as financing instruments in Russia, which are not ready to provide the shipbuilding enterprises with the funds in full and for the required period of time. Financing of shipbuilding, and in particular lending as the most developed instrument of investing in the Russian market, is associated with a number of difficulties in applying standard methods of financial analysis to assess the financial position of the enterprise in view of the availability of a number of industry specific features. The relevance of this work is to consider the credit risks of shipbuilding enterprises using traditional methods of assessing the financial position of the organization, taking into account its industry specificity, which allows us to more objectively assess the company's condition, as well as the risks associated with its activities. The main objective is to directly study methods for assessing the credit risk of shipbuilding organizations. Several basic points are considered as problems. As the first point would be investigated a comprehensive analysis of the Russian shipbuilding industry. Secondly it is reasonable to analyze the methodological aspects of lending by Russian credit institutions. And as the conclusion would be presented the analysis of one of the largest shipbuilding enterprises in Russia.
