Research subject: competitive advantage of companies in terms of technological environment transformation.

The purpose of the study is to create an initiative on the increase of competitive advantage of Russian companies using the benefits of digitalization.

In order to achieve the purpose the following tasks have been solved:

1. The role of digitalization in the process of competitive advantage creation has been assessed;

2. There was identified the model of transformation of traditional business model into a digital one;

3. There were examined the cases of companies from different fields which have already been affected by digitalization;

4. There was identified the position of Russia in the process of digital transformation.

The first chapter is dedicated to the examination of the theories of competition, innovations and the phenomenon of digitalization.

The second chapter specifies approaches to the model of business transformation, and the cases of digital technologies usage are examined.

In the third chapter the position of Russia in the process of digitalization is examined and an initiative on the creation of Innovative Platform is suggested.

Popularity of this subject is caused by the fact that in the following years the 4th wave of digitalization will come and will become the premise of the transformation of traditional business models into digital ones, which will affect the competitive advantage of companies. In such a changing reality Russian companies need a strategy which will bring them out on international competitive level.
