The master paper is the project of a digital commented and animated edition Alexander Pushkin's historical novel "The Captain's Daughter". The theoretical note is devoted to the problems of digital book publishing in Russia, the market of electronic interactive books, the multimedia system in school education. The first and second chapters describe the process of designing and modeling a digital commentary edition for the text of classical fiction, which is part of the school curriculum. The work presents a project of the digital edition, prepared comments and a technical task for the production of illustrations and animations for certain words and fragments of the historical novel.
