The author's work is devoted to the study of the criterias of the covering of preparation and the World Cup itself in sports media of Russia in the online environment and on television. It isincluded the experience of the last three past tournaments in Germany, South Africa, Brazil, as well as coverage of preparations for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The research was conducted with the purpose of studying the modern market of Russian sports media and creating its own project of the author and a group of students of the Higher School of Economics.
