Aspects of Business Success Perception by Female Entrepreneurs in Russia

The purpose of a qualitative research was to define how women entrepreneurs in Russia understand success in business and what criteria of success inbusiness they allocate. There were 15 semi-formalized interviews with women entrepreneurs and 5 semi-formalized interviews with male businessmen as a control group. During the research the following tasks were defined: - creating the typology of women entrepreneurs depending on motivation and criteria of success in business; - comparing their typology and criteria of success in business to control group of male entrepreneurs; - finding out how women explain their failures in business and learning whether they justify it with gender problems. The result of a research is presented in the form of typology consisting of three kinds of women - "Rustlers", "Harmonious" and "Creators". Business success features are defined for each type of women. Comparisons with control group of men, in typology consisting of "Rustlers" and "Harmonious" are carried out. The reasons of women business failures are allocated.
