Influence of Digital Technologies on the Public Sphere of Modern Moscow

Vshivtseva Mariia Valeryevna. INFLUENCE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES ON THE PUBLIC SPHERE OF MODERN MOSCOW. Annotation. The master's thesis is carried out within the framework of city communications in Moscow. The object of the research is the revealing the correlation of the discussion in the social networks of urban communities and the criteria of the public sphere. The problem of research is the adoption of digital technologies in all spheres of public life, whereby the transition of the public sphere from social reality to virtual reality is expected, returning individuals and communities autonomy on the principle of an ideal speech situation in order to be able to fulfill the role of critical reflection. The main objective of this study is to identify the pattern of the impact of new digital public spaces generated by the integration of digital technologies on the urban communication environment. The author tested the hypothesis: "The civil discourse of communications of the communities of the city center is expressed to a greater extent than on the periphery of the urban space, which contributes to the overall significance of the influence of external communications on the civil discourse of the citizens of Moscow. Methods: Content analysis, discourse analysis. (Analysis period: 01.09.2016 -31.03.2017.) During the research, the hypothesis that there is no significant influence of digital communications on the civil discourse of Moscow citizens has been confirmed. Cohesion at the level of civil initiatives, civil discussion is revealed only in the central regions, the author explains this phenomenon with cultural patterns, and the filling of space with the meanings of the «sense place" formed in the given territory.
