Risk Assessment of Innovation Projects Using Real Options

The problem of an assessment of risks of innovative projects has acquired special relevance because of promoting of introduction of innovative projects in the state and private sectors. In addition, it connected with growth of economic instability. Innovative projects has specific risks and increased uncertainty level. It demands improvement of earlier developed methods or introduction of new approaches to an assessment of risks of projects with the purpose of increase in their efficiency.

In the work were described specific features of innovative projects and innovative risks. Advantages of the concept of real options to risk management of innovative projects had been defined, and was analyzed the models of estimation of cost of real options. On the innovative project of the oil-extracting company had been made the empirical calculations and made the conclusion that using of the method of real options allows to consider risks of innovative projects and to make timely decisions on end or continuation of implementation of the project.
