Representation of Myth "Russian World" in American Computer Games

Student: Porvatkin Anton

Supervisor: Oxana A. Timofeyeva

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Multimedia Journalism (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2017

The work explores the characters of the "Russian world" in American computer games, their external images, as well as the role in the plot. In the course of the study, an analysis was made of the history of the appearance of Russian characters in video games in general. Attempts to create full-scale works on this topic were not found, which means that in the future, this study can become the basis for the subsequent more detailed and large-scale study of the whole issue as a whole. The main problem in the course of the study was the lack of sources on the stated topic. The result of the study was a partial confirmation of the hypothesis that in modern American computer games the characters of the "Russian world" are mainly used as antagonists and are based on myths about Russians.
