The Evaluation of HR-Strategy Fit with Overall Company Strategy in the Edutainment Industry

Managing human resources in the company becomes more and more important and strategic every year. The formation of an effective HR-strategy gives the company an opportunity to more effectively achieve the purposes of an overall strategy. The aim of the work is to evaluate the fit between the HR-strategy and the overall strategy of the company. The organisation, which is one of the leaders in edutainment industry both in Russia and abroad, has been analysed. Theoretical research is based on consideration of the basic approaches about the development of HR-strategy. Also, the work presents external and internal factors that influence both the overall strategy of the company and the HR-strategy. These factors have been analyzed in terms of the features of personnel management and the specifics of the company. The empirical analysis is based on 5 in-depth structured interviews with company managers. To analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the organization, customer preferences and their attitude towards the company in comparison with competitors, the survey of the target audience was carried out. The number of respondents is 1187 people. To check the data received from managers during the interview, the online survey was conducted among linear workers to identify correspondences and discrepancies. The number of respondents is 34 people. As a result of the research, the strengths and weaknesses of the HR strategy which affect its fit with the overall strategy were identified. Moreover, some features of the company that are specific for the edutainment industry have been revealed. In general, the company has a fairly high level of fit between the HR-strategy of the company and its overall strategy.
